Sealed Bottles belonging to the Carew family of Haccombe and Antony

Henry entered Trininty College, Oxford in 1797 at the age of 18 and married Elizabeth Palk of Marley, Devon in 1806, a year after his father's death.  Sir Henry was sheriff of Devon in 1808.  He died in 1830.  He was succeeded by his son Sir Walter Palk Carew.  The bottles which belonged to Henry are sealed with a dexter hand apaumee and the letters H C.

These two bottles both belonged to Sir Henry Carew and bear a similar seal.  The left one is earlier, much cruder.  The body was blown in a dip mould but the neck and string rim are hand finished.  The right hand bottle is post 1822 being made in a three part mould.  It is still fairly crude however and has a nice pontil mark to the base.
